MISSION: ANTI SELF HARM ADVOCATES (ASHA)

VETs help ROOKs form bridges that support self-care and buddy-team practice bonds and experiences.
ROOKS | VETS
TRPP VETs are professional volunteer and staff mentors committed to supporting all ROOKs in their participation, development and program experience. VETs assist ROOKs as listener-advisors with an emphasis on guidance and advocacy.
VETs demonstrate patience, compassion, effective listening, sound temperament and judgement - serving on various teams. They perform youth support roles including review of Rook Development Activity Plans (DAPs). DAPs contain muster/meeting details, missions and other key communications.
VETs are helpful co-facilitators of the ROOK development process - serving in the following roles:
-
Availability for cadet check-ins, outreach and interaction between musters.
-
Pre-arranged transportation (pick-up/drop-off) for immobilized ROOK(s).
-
Accountability of ROOK mission reports and accurate count of earned credits.
-
Coaching and assisting ROOKs with mission understanding and completion.
-
Purpose-listening and solution/strengths-focused feedback via open dialogue.
We encourage and support a fun and fulfilling experience where ROOKs learn, plan and practice accomplishing individual and team missions and setting proactive goals.
